Designing a children’s book

This book uses the alphabet to introduce unfamiliar animals to children. The poem on the back is a summary written in the same format as the book.

An animal illustration and poem are placed on one side, while body copy is on the other. This setup creates a way to grow with the reader. Young children can focus on the simpler side while older children can read the denser copy.

Each illustration was hand drawn before being colored in Illustrator. A sectioned coloring style was used to add quirkiness to the illustrations.
