Redesigning food packaging

Mateo’s is a homemade gourmet salsa based in Texas. Their logo was hand lettered to reflect the work done in making their salsa. Inspiration for the rest of the brand was drawn from western clothing. Hand-carved leather belts and engraved buckles were particularly important

Each flavor has its own belt pattern to make it easier for the consumer to recognize them. The colors of the bands, buckles, and flowers are also different. The buckle shape and Mateo’s lettering remains the same to unify the brand.

Queso labels have a different buckle shape because they are a different product. Other parts of the design are treated the same as the rest of the brand.

The tortilla chip bag is a different format than the queso and salsa. It still carries the Mateo’s logo on top. The patterns do not cover the entire package like on other products, but have a similar feel.

The brand patterns were also used to create a serving plate that can be used with the products.
